Amigara Fault is a story encompassing a discovery of a body of rock found on a cliffside with holes in the shape of human bodies. 10/10Ī immensely disturbing short that left me feeling incredibly shook for days after I read it. Beginning with a man’s obsession which leads to his own self-disfigurement into a spiral, the novel eventually leads to grandiose proportions beyond the scope of our world. A horror classic which revolves around the concept of a town haunted not by a creature or monster but by a spiral pattern. My first experience with Junji Ito was this one. I loved the illustration work and was hooked immediately. It all started when I got into these guys from a friend a while back and saw they had merch featuring artwork from a famous panel from Junji Ito's Uzumaki. His work is renowned by many horror aficionados and I decided to begin cataloging his work and rating it. Ito is a famed manga horror writer from the Gifu Prefecture in Japan. Nagahama’s adaptation of Uzumaki isn’t the only anime based on Junji Ito’s work on the horizon, as Netflix recently announced the anime anthology Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, set to premiere next year.Just ZombieCasualConversations: October ♦Ībout 2 years ago I started what would become a fascination with the work of Junji Ito. The Uzumaki anime is being directed by Hiroshi Nagahama of Mushishi and The Flowers of Evil fame and being produced by animation studio Drive, with a score by Hereditary composer Colin Stetson. The four-episode miniseries is set to retell the story of Ito’s original manga, which follows the lives of several citizens of the fictional city of Kurouzu-cho who are afflicted by a supernatural curse involving spirals.

Originally announced in 2019 for a 2020 release, the production of the anime was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic and later rescheduled for October of this year. No premiere date has been announced yet, but a new one will be announced sometime in the near future. An important update for our Uzumaki Anime.
